Might be a looong season

Looks like the ghost of Hugh Culverhouse has re-purchased the Bucs, who cut some veterans today, including:

Derrick Brooks-Dumb. Guy makes the Pro Bowl and gets cut? I could see the logic if it were a matter of freeing up salary cap space, but they are around 50 million below the cap already. Sure, Brooks is not as good as he was physically, but 85% of Derrick Brooks is better than many linebackers, and you can not put a price tag on his leadership. Not to mention the years of giving 110%.

Joey Galloway- Good move.

Warrick Dunn- Can't disagree with the move considering that we are fairly deep at RB.

Ike Hilliard- I hope this doesn't mean that Michael Clayton is going to be the "go to" guy...he reminds me of "Stonehands" from the movie "Necessary Roughness". Ike seldom dropped the ball, another solid professional gone.

Cato June-Has not played to expectations, but has been playing out of position since he arrived.

Some of these cuts seem to be based solely on money, not football. With so few leaders left, unless youthful enthusiasm results in a fast start, the Bucs could be toast by November.

Not a great draft in my opinion, I would not have drafted the QB, most experts say he will take some time to develop, Next years draft should have more, and better QBs available. May have been better to try and use that number 1 pick to make a trade and stockpile some picks for next year. Then we would have had the ammo to get Bradford, and Tebow should be available with picks 5-20.

Real tough looking schedule, I think that, and the personnel, makes a 6 win season look optimistic.
