Security in schools????

I had heard so many times that they were going to beef up security in hernando county schools, since the Sept 11 attack...

oh s#!t, you did it now!!!!!! here we go, now im gonna rant like never before. no, you know what. im not. im just gonna agree. the security in schools sucks! no, correction. how could something suck, if it isnt even there. alright. example one. CHS- two kids are outside the guidance office. pushing, shoving and making threats and are ready to throw down. theres an administrator standing not too far away. close enough to see and clearly hear what going on. *censored*she has her walkie talkie in hand. shes using it. but what is she saying on it?!?!?!? shes talking to the administrator thats at the top of the steps in front of the cafeteria!! does she ask him to come down and take care of the commotion??? NO SHE DOESNT!!!! SHE SAYS 'DRESS CODE VIOLATION COMING YOUR WAY UP THE STAIRS IN THE RED SHIRT'... and then you have deputy dildo (dont get me wrong, i like cops, i want to be one myself) but maybe he should spend more time in his office watching the security cameras that they paid so much money for and patrolling around the school, instead of hanging out with the football team, and in the teachers lounge.. and instead of joking with all the kids that he does hang with, maybe he should make a few arrests pertaining to controlled substances. ok, thats it, before i pull all of my hair out, im gonna end this post. hope you see my point. <img src="http://www.hernandoliving.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> I HATE THE SCHOOL SYSTEM DOWN HERE

I can't speak for all of the schools in Hernando County today, but all throughout my years in Hernando schools, I never saw a problem with security. I graduated from Central in 2001, and it's true that there was little-to-no security, but that's because there was really no reason for it. None that I could see, anyway. There weren't a lot of fights, there were no gangs, no &lt;i&gt;credible&lt;/i&gt; threats to shoot up the school, drugs weren't being openly passed around...

I don't think that a thing like Sept. 11 should be an excuse for more security for schools, though. Terrorists aren't after schools (unless it's a Jewish school). A thing like Columbine should've resulted in increased security and awarness, which it did (without getting out of hand). It's good to have &lt;i&gt;some&lt;/i&gt; security, but ya don't want to overdue it, or enforce stricter rules on kids for something that isn't a credible threat.
