Fishing with a Iraq War Vet...

A few weeks ago we took SPC Ryan Holm out fishing. He had just returned from Iraq a few weeks before he visited Florida for the first time. He had never been out in the Gulf.

I hired a bout for the day...not something I usually do, but I wanted him to enjoy his experience to the fullest.

The day started off pretty slow. There were 4 of us, Bill, Ryan, my the 13 year old nephew Tyler, and I (Rob). We did pretty good in the afternoon hours. It was almost one right after the other for about a good hour and a half. Brought home out limit of Reds. There was a snook that swam right past the boat that had to be a good 2 feet long. You could see the wake it created for about 300 feet....no luck with that one though.

All-in-all a very enjoyable day. It was good having the time to get to know Ryan better, and most of all thank him for his service.

A few days later we hade him on our radio show...The Military Appreciation Show on WWJB.
